The Meteorology Unit of the Autonomous University of Nayarit (UAN) has issued an important warning regarding the formation of tropical storm “Bud.” This event marks the second tropical storm of the 2024 season in the Mexican Pacific.
On Wednesday, July 24, at 1:40 pm, “Bud” emerged from Tropical Disturbance 93E. The storm was reported to be located 690 kilometers south-southwest of Baja California Sur, presenting maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and moving at a speed of 26 km/h towards the west-northwest (295º).
In a statement released by the UAN’s Research and Graduate Studies Department through its Meteorology department, it was emphasized that “Bud” does not currently pose a direct threat to the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, and Baja California Sur. The storm is not expected to have any significant effects on these regions. However, continuous monitoring is being conducted to track any changes in the storm’s trajectory or intensity.
