Quintana Roo’s Four Archers Set Sights on 2025 World Archery Championships

Four archers from Quintana Roo have earned spots on Mexico’s pre-selection for the 2025 World Archery Championships in Winnipeg following standout performances at the President’s Cup in Tlaxcala.

On May 11, 2025, the Comisión del Deporte de Quintana Roo (CODEQ) announced that four of the state’s brightest archery talents—Zulema Ramírez, Miranda Chab, Ana Sofía Hernández and Gabriel Jaramillo—have been named to Mexico’s pre-selection roster for the 2025 World Archery Championships in Winnipeg, Canada. Their inclusion comes on the heels of an impressive showing at the Copa Presidente de Arquería held in Tlaxcala, where they outshot many established competitors to secure their places.

Under the leadership of CODEQ president Jacobo Arzate Hop and within the framework of the Nuevo Acuerdo por el Bienestar y Desarrollo promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, Quintana Roo has steadily built a reputation for nurturing high-performance athletes. The archers’ achievements in Tlaxcala mark a significant milestone in the region’s push to raise its profile on the international sports stage.

While this pre-selection is a critical first step, it does not yet guarantee participation in Winnipeg. To solidify their spots on the final national team, the four archers must deliver strong results at the upcoming Olimpiada Nacional CONADE 2025. The national youth competition will serve both as a proving ground and as an opportunity to accrue valuable ranking points that determine the final composition of Team Mexico.

Beyond the World Championships, Quintana Roo’s archery prospects extend to the Pan American Junior Games in Asunción, Paraguay. Zulema Ramírez and Elihud Elizondo have already been earmarked for Mexico’s junior squad, presenting another international platform where Quintana Roo athletes can display their skills and gain experience against continental peers.

Local coaches emphasize the comprehensive preparation these athletes undergo, from technical training sessions on range consistency to mental conditioning designed to maintain focus under pressure. The integration of sports psychology and nutritional planning by CODEQ’s high-performance department underscores the holistic approach taken to develop world-class archers.

As they look forward to challenges both at the Olimpiada Nacional and on the world stage in Winnipeg this October, the quartet embodies Quintana Roo’s commitment to excellence. Their journeys—from regional competitions to the cusp of global championships—reflect years of dedication, community support, and strategic investment in the state’s athletic infrastructure. With each arrow loosed, these archers carry the hopes of a region determined to make its mark on the international archery circuit.
