Handshake Speakeasy, located in Mexico City’s Colonia Juárez, has been awarded the title of North America’s Best Bar for the second consecutive year by North America’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier. The announcement was made during a ceremony held in Vancouver on April 29, 2025.
The bar, known for its intimate 32-seat setting and 1920s-inspired décor, offers guests a unique cocktail experience. Under the guidance of bar director Eric van Beek, Handshake Speakeasy has gained acclaim for its innovative drinks that blend Mexican ingredients with modern mixology techniques. In addition to its main bar, Handshake Speakeasy has expanded to include a Japanese-style izakaya in the basement of the NH Hotel, featuring high-tech elements such as a chilled bar surface to keep drinks cold.
