Massacre in Guanajuato: Eleven People Murdered Across Multiple Municipalities

Guanajuato, Mexico – In a shocking wave of violence, the state of Guanajuato witnessed the murder of eleven individuals, including a young girl and a teenager, at a family gathering in the municipality of Pénjamo. The State Attorney General’s Office confirmed these tragic events, which occurred on Friday in Pénjamo, Irapuato, León, and the city of Guanajuato.

The most harrowing incident took place in the Los Fresnos neighborhood of Pénjamo. Just before noon on Saturday, an armed group stormed a residence where a family gathering was underway. The attackers mercilessly opened fire, resulting in the deaths of BZPL, a 10-year-old girl, AFAC, a 17-year-old teenager, Marco Antonio, aged 20, and Diana Amelia, aged 25. According to the State Attorney General’s Office, all victims succumbed to gunshot wounds.

Further distressing news emerged from the same municipality. Authorities discovered the lifeless body of a man showing signs of violence on a dirt road between the Indeco and Los Ocotes communities. This grim discovery added to the already heightened tension and fear in the area.

The violence was not confined to Pénjamo alone. The municipality of León reported three murders, while two people were killed in Irapuato, and one individual lost their life in the city of Guanajuato. These incidents have sparked concerns over the rising violence in the region, leaving communities in mourning and demanding justice.

Authorities are currently investigating these brutal attacks, aiming to bring the perpetrators to justice. The State Attorney General’s Office has called for calm and cooperation from the public, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Guanajuato has faced escalating violence in recent years, attributed largely to conflicts between rival criminal organizations. This latest series of attacks underscores the urgent need for effective measures to combat organized crime and ensure the safety of residents.

As the investigation continues, the community of Pénjamo and other affected areas remain gripped by grief and apprehension. The tragic loss of young lives, in particular, has resonated deeply, highlighting the devastating impact of violence on families and communities.

Local and state authorities are expected to enhance security measures and intensify efforts to restore peace and stability. The families of the victims, along with the wider community, await justice and a return to safety in their homes and streets.
